Microblading and Botox treatments are two of the most popular aesthetic treatments. However, if you are thinking of getting them both done, you might be unsure if this is doable together, or which needs to be completed first. After all, both of the procedures involve a needle of some kind and can be needed around the same area.
However, microblading treatment is the process of adding hairlike strokes to the brow with semi-permanent makeup to create natural brows. This type of needle only penetrates the upper levels of the dermis to inject the ink, whereas Botox for brow positioning is injected into the muscles that are under the skin and dermis, meaning it penetrates deeper. But should you have Botox before or after microblading?

What is Botox?
Botox or botulinum toxin, is a type of neurotoxin which can be injected into a number of areas in the face which helps to smooth out your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is one of four treatments that is FDA (Food & Drug Administration) approved for cosmetic uses.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a type of cosmetic semi-permanent makeup that uses tiny needles to lightly scratch the skin’s surface to add levels of colour matched pigment to mimic your natural eyebrows. Microblading is the perfect solution if you have patchy, thin or uneven eyebrows and want to avoid drawing them on every morning while you’re putting your makeup on!
Botox and Microblading
Some clients want to know if they can have Botox AND Microblading together to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles as well as improve the shape and look of their eyebrows. The answer is yes – let’s have a look at the details!
It’s important to note that we first highly recommend both procedures being completed by a highly trained specialist. Once you have found the right professional, you can start to ask them the question “how long after microblading can I get Botox?” and vice versa. The recommended waiting time from most professionals would be two weeks if you have had Botox done first.
However, the good news for those of you who might not want to wait, or who would like both cosmetic procedures done together is, if you have microblading done first, you can have Botox completed in the same sitting, or the next day. This is because the Botox injections are usually above the brow lines or the sides, places where you don’t typically get Microblading done, and as mentioned before, the microblading only penetrates the upper levels of the dermis. As well as this, the aftercare for Microblading such as avoiding touching the area and activities that can cause sweating, also apply to Botox injections.
The Botox injections limit facial muscle movement and most doctors recommend that you do not lay on your face or bend forwards for four hours after the procedure. All of these are very beneficial to the proper microblading healing process.
