You’ll be amazed by how soft and smooth your face feels after a dermaplane treatment. Men receive this manual exfoliation treatment to exfoliate, smooth, and revitalize the skin. Our certified aestheticians use a surgical blade to remove the dull and damaged cells that make up the top layer of your skin.
Dermaplaning removes “vellus” hairs, which are the soft, peach fuzz-like hairs that you may find on the upper cheeks, around the eyes and on the forehead. It will not remove beard hair as it is too coarse. Exfoliating the top layer of skin cells triggers the natural regeneration of new skin cells. If beard hair is a defining characteristic of your appearance, dermaplaning the face around it can help lead to an overall luminous, healthy appearance.
The dermaplane treatment is a painless one. The sensation is very similar to shaving. And the procedure itself looks like shaving, only the surgical blade used by our aestheticians is sharper than any home razor. The surgical blade is very carefully operated by our certified aestheticians using a specific movement and technique over the skin to remove the hair.
Dermaplaning for men is not performed on “terminal” hairs, which include your eyebrows (those stay put!) and nose hair. We do offer waxing/shaping services upon request. It is also not performed on beard hair due to its coarse nature.
Aside from combatting dull skin and providing a smooth, silky feel, dermaplaning can also address these specific skin conditions:
Dermaplane is often used in combination with other skin care treatments recommended by your skin care professional.
Please note: DIY dermaplaning is never a good idea. While we assimilate it to shaving, it is not shaving, and trying it at home with dull razors can make it possible to damage the skin. There is a specific technique in which our certified aestheticians are trained and experienced to perform this treatment. After all, this is a medical-grade treatment.. Your aesthetician will hold your skin taut while gently and precisely removing the outer layer of skin cells. The blade must be held at the proper angle and follow a specific pattern across the face to cleanly remove the dead cells.
Because the newly exfoliated skin will be very absorbent, post-dermaplane is the perfect time to apply therapeutic grade serums, creams and other products. Our certified aestheticians will be happy to share their recommendations for products that are best for your skin.
The short answer is no. This misconception about dermaplaning is a common one. Whether you shave, wax, dermaplane or thread – your hair will not grow back thicker or darker, but will instead be the same color and thickness as if you had not performed the hair reduction in the first place.
We recommend a dermaplane every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain optimal skin health.
