Halo™ Pre-Treatment Instruction:

  • Discontinue all products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents) 48 hours before treatment.
  • If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, a course of anti-viral medication pre and post treatment is required. This will prevent an outbreak of cold sores if you are prone to them. Cold sores can also break out on people who are not prone to them, but who have sensitive skin. If you would like us to call in a prescription for you, please call our offices.

Halo™ Post-Treatment Instruction:

  • Redness is normal and expected.
  • Pinpoint bleeding may occur.
  • Immediately after treatment, swelling is common and expected, especially under the eyes. To avoid further swelling, it may be beneficial to sleep with head elevated with extra pillows the first night after treatment.
  • The treated area may be extremely warm for 12-24 hours after the treatment.  Your clinician may recommend cool compresses to help alleviate discomfort.
  • Post treatment discomfort may be relieved by over the counter oral pain relievers.
  • Itching may be experienced during the healing phase and is completely normal. Oral antihistamines, such as Benadryl or Zyrtec, may help with this.

Days 1-3 Post Treatment

  • AM Routine: Cleanse skin with Elta Foaming Cleanser, apply Power Duo-Post Procedure Repair Complex, apply Elta Clear sunscreen
  • PM Routine: Cleanse skin with Elta Foaming Cleanser and apply Power Duo – Restorative Ointment. If you feel dry, you can apply more lotion as needed.
    • On the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment, you will increasingly notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the treated skin. Do not pick, rub, scrub or irritate your skin in any way while it is healing, as this may cause scarring, pigmentation complications and/or infection.
    • Mineral make-up may be worn if necessary.
    • Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and sweaty activity; this includes exercise of any kind during these days
    • Do not use a Clarisonic or facial brush of any kind.

Days 4-7

  • AM Routine: Cleanse skin with Elta Foaming Cleanser, apply Power Duo-Post Procedure Repair and follow with Elta UV Clear sunscreen. Moisturizer should be applied generously and reapplied whenever skin feels dry.
  • PM Routine: Cleanse skin with Elta Foaming Cleanser and apply Power Duo – Restorative Ointment. If you feel dry, you can apply more lotion as needed.
